Piercing The Republican Propaganda

The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy… look around, what do you see? Business men, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save… You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.
– Morpheus, the Matrix
So the Republican Party is making the argument that the economy is doing much better under the current administration than during 8 years under Barack Obama, but there are some substantial pieces of information that the PopCon pundit class is ignoring in order to support this. Let’s start with the fact that the economy has been improving modestly for years now, ever since the end of the recessionary pull back from 2008 through 2010.
If Republican Party gets full marks for having two out of five months over 3% GDP growth (and just barely), then Obama gets full marks for five months out of sixteen months over 3% GDP growth, not to mention an GDP growth rate that was improving from 2016 and into 2017, with a strong cycle between 2013 and 2015. If Obama, however, did a terrible job because his economy only broke above 5% growth for one quarter (which isn’t good), then how is Trump “doing great” without getting even close to 4% growth?
Bring this up, however, and Republican voters will quickly point to unemployment rates and black unemployment rates “at record lows“, but if improving employment numbers are a sign of a Republican policies working, then what do the Republican talking heads have to say when the hard data indicates the number of employed persons dropping after January 2018 – even though the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a massive net job increase in February?
And what about the Republican claim that the black unemployment rate has dropped to the lowest in recorded history? According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the household employment data shows that number of employed black Americans dropped from a peak of 19,087 thousand in February to only 18,892 thousand in April, while the black labor force participation rate dropped an entire percentage point from 62.9% to only 61.9%. Meanwhile, the overall labor force participation rate for all Americans is still less than 1 percentage point above its lowest level and 0.1 percentage points below where it was when Obama left office.
The Republican pundit class is lying right into our faces, pouring falsehoods and delusions right onto the heads of the tens of millions of Americans so desperate to believe in the infallibility of their political movement that they believe everything that they’re told. Those that believe in truth have a moral duty to speak truth to the masses, to wake them up, even if they don’t want to be. The truth is the only weapon we need, for it is cold, hard, and unyielding.
Share this everywhere. Go break some heads, patriots.
