Resolutions For Restoring Our Republic
In 2017, America resolved to curb the Progressive movement.
Reflecting back to 2017, President Trump accomplished much better policies than Hillary Clinton would have wrought! This article proves it:

Americans are not content with better. We strive for what is best.
The United States dodged a disaster when we rejected Hillary Clinton and her Progressive agenda to occupy the White House. The American voters recognized that the Obama era had fractured our Republic. In an act of desperation, we sought out an anti-Obama and anti-Hillary. Instead of being proactive to heal our nation, we reacted out of fear. This is a weak position!
It’s almost as if We the People had forgotten and forsaken our first love.
What’s the next step for patriots to restore and strengthen the Republic? Is there still something missing that would ensure the success of a Constitutional Republic that will be honored by all Americans and respected throughout the world? Let’s strengthen our resolve to make our nation the best in the world once again, for the foreseeable future.
For Liberty!
What is our most prized possession? Is it not Liberty? Would you keep it?
To our Founding Fathers, it was obvious, or “self-evident,” that self-government, or a democratic republic, could only be perpetuated by the self-governed. Reflecting these precepts, a contemporary German writer to the Founders, J. W. von Goethe, stated: “What is the best government? — That which teaches us to govern ourselves.” And, a later, prominent 19th Century minister, Henry Ward Beecher, simply said: “There is no liberty to men who know not how to govern themselves.” Self-governance consists of self-regulation of our behavior, ambitions, and passions. To this end, the Founders fundamentally believed that the ability to govern ourselves rests with our individual and collective virtue (or moral character).
John Adams stated it this way, “Public virtue cannot exist in a Nation without private Virtue, and public Virtue is the only Foundation of Republics.” from No Liberty Without Virtue
How do we restore responsible and robust patriotism?
Who better to consult than our Founders and respected former Presidents?
“Now more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature…. If the next centennial does not find us a great nation … it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.” James Garfield, the twentieth president of the United States, 1877
Thomas Jefferson prophesied the remedy for bad choices:
“I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves, (A)nd if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power.”
And:
“If a republican government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the divine commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the laws.” Noah Webster
“Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does NOT mean to stand by the President or any other public official save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him insofar as he efficiently serves the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the exact extent that by inefficiency or otherwise he fails in his duty to stand by the country.” Theodore Roosevelt
The best Guarantor of our Republic is Virtue.
“Is there no virtue among us? If there be not, we are in a wretched situation. No theoretical checks-no form of government can render us secure. To suppose that any form of government will secure liberty or happiness without any virtue in the people, is a chimerical idea, if there be sufficient virtue and intelligence in the community, it will be exercised in the selection of these men. So that we do not depend on their virtue, or put confidence in our rulers, but in the people who are to choose them.” James Madison, speech at the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 20, 1788
“The aim of every political Constitution, is or ought to be first to obtain for rulers men who possess most wisdom to discern, and most virtue to pursue, the common good of society; and in the next place, to take the most effectual precautions for keeping them virtuous whilst they continue to hold their public trust.” James Madison
“The only foundation of a free Constitution, is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People, in a great Measure, than they have it now. They may change their Rulers, and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting Liberty.” John Adams

A New Year’s Prayer and Resolution
Let us remember the Apostle Peter’s prayer for all the saints, and strive for its fulfillment in our lives in 2018:
May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. 5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. 10 Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. 11 For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Let us resolve to put on Virtue and judge all through its lens. In this way, We the People will be equipped and empowered to elect those representatives who reflect the virtue of our Republic and are motivated to restore and preserve it for decades to come.
