Newly appointed and controversial White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci tendered his resignation to the President, just a week and a half after the announcement of his appointment. But what a stormy 10 days it was. A snapshot (below) of happier times, just a week ago:

The key event that signaled a reversal of fortune for the former majority partner in the Sky Bridge Capital hedge fund, was his impromptu and unscripted phone discussion with frequent CNN contributor and Washington correspondent for the New Yorker magazine, Ryan Lizza.
The more incendiary parts of Scaramucci’s remarks on the phone to Lizza, who reminded Scaramucci that the conversation was not off the record, was this sequence (reader warning- profanity not redacted):
“Reince is a fucking paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac,” Scaramucci said. He mocked Priebus, with this bit of mimicry: “ ‘Oh, Bill Shine is coming in. Let me leak the fucking thing and see if I can cock-block these people the way I cock-blocked Scaramucci for six months.’ ”
Saying he’s called the FBI and the DOJ, Scaramucci continued, “The swamp will not defeat him,” he said, breaking into the third person. “They’re trying to resist me, but it’s not going to work. I’ve done nothing wrong on my financial disclosures, so they’re going to have to go fuck themselves.” “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own cock.” “What I want to do is I want to fucking kill all the leakers…”
The dismissal of Scaramucci, was reportedly at the behest of General John Kelly, the new White House Chief of Staff, replacing Reince Priebus, who was one of the objects of Scaramucci’s tirade.
Mr Trump’s spokeswoman, Sarah Sanders, said the president thought Mr Scaramucci’s comments to the reporter “were inappropriate for a person in that position”. The irony of Trump referencing comments that are “inappropriate for a person in that position”, is so obvious that its absurdity is self apparent.
Scaramucci’s educational and professional pedigree is remarkable with respect to the narratives that were embraced by Trump’s rabid following during last year’s campaign. Mr. Scaramucci has a law degree from Harvard University; started his career in the brokerage trade at Goldman Sachs and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations – all associations that were dredged up by Trump surrogates to disparage primary opponent Ted Cruz and his wife Heidi.
When considered against the backdrop of all the firings in the Trump White House, John Kelly might have shuddered slightly at Trump’s comment that “I have no doubt that he will be an absolutely superb chief of staff.” Those sort of statements have been tantamount to the kiss of death over the past 6 months.
One of the cast members of Saturday Night Live, who was slated to assume the role of Anthony Scaramucci in weekly skits, is taking Scaramucci’s dismissal in stride. Mario Cantone – a dead ringer for “Mooch”, tweeted:
Yes I did.I knew it.That's why ya don't wait. Ya do it in the now! Strike now! Hey, There's an old Italian expression.. what d'ya gonna do? https://t.co/ce9l9i5Fp0
