Johnny Depp Makes Surprise Appearance As Captain Jack Sparrow At Disneyland On Pirates’ Ride
The ‘Captain Jack Sparrow’ animotion character that you see sitting on a cannon just before the Pirates Of The Caribbean ride pulls up the incline was replaced Wednesday night by an actual live performer.
Disneyland guests were pleasantly surprised and no doubt a little startled to see actor Johnny Depp in full costume, speaking to them as their ride boats approached Sparrow’s perch.
Needless to say, many took the opportunity to disobey the normal prohibition of flash photography and videos to memorialize the event and Disney management probably was elated, because Depp’s special appearance was a likely one time promotional event designed to remind park goers and the general public that Depp will be back in theaters in May reprising his role for the fifth time in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
How many times have you imagined what it would be like if Johnny Depp just happened to show up randomly in place of his regular stand in? Only those in attendance last night, who reported that Depp also spoke to guests in the wait line, will ever really know – but here is some video captured by one park guest:
