Ongoing Fallout From Trump’s Press Conference And Helsinki Summit With Putin

by Richard Cameron Helsinki Summit – A Disaster and a bigly clean up job Donald Trump, after approximately 24 hours of furious reactions to his abominable actions in Helsinki, relented to administration political advisors and agreed to stage what amounted to a transparently insincere damage control dog and pony show. What caused the firestorm to begin with?  Let’s put those on the table first, so we can examine the validity of Trump’s gainsaying of his behavior on foreign soil. Trump’s statements at the post private meeting press conference were standard…

Trump Heads To Nuclear Talks In Singapore After Alienating Allies In Canada

Trump on the south lawn of the White House with short statement about bringing Russia back into G-7 group

by Richard Cameron   If Donald Trump gets the Singapore summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un as wrong as he just got the G6+1 meeting in Canada – the US is going to get taken to the cleaners, bigly. Former U.S. Ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul put it in these terms:       Trump, as has been reported, slunk out of the meetings in Charlevoix, Quebec, pouting and grumbling that the other national leaders did not dance to his tune the way the GOP Congress has for the past…

by Richard Cameron   The United States Senate is conducting hearings this week, interviewing Donald Trump’s candidate, acting CIA director, Gina Haspel, to be confirmed as former director Mike Pompeo’s permanent replacement.  The questioning is focused on Ms. Haspel’s role as having supervised a “black site” (secret detention site) in Thailand, where detainees were subjected to torture, euphemized by the intelligence community at that time as “enhanced interrogation”. by Danielle Pechette-Graham Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) was diagnosed with glioblastomas, an aggressive form of brain cancer after pathology was performed following his recent surgery on July 14 to remove a blood clot which was located above his left eye. Glioblastomas (GBM) are tumors that arise from astrocytes—the star-shaped cells that make up the “glue-like,” or supportive tissue of the brain. Senate Passes Amendment That Expands Russian Sanctions While Restricting President Trump

By Dani Graham In a rare show of unity, Democrats and Republicans in the Senate came together to pass a bipartisan amendment with a new package expanding sanctions on Russia. With 99 Senators in attendance, the amendment was passed almost unanimously by a vote of 97-2. Senators Mike Lee (R-UT) and Rand Paul (R-KY) were the only two who opposed the measure. Although Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) wasn’t…

How Can We Tell Whether Comey’s Firing Was Justified?  Behavioral Science Has Answers.

Editors’ Note:  I’m pleased to present a guest column from Professor Gleb Tsipursky of Ohio State University. by Dr. Gleb Tsipursky We all want our top investigative bodies to be headed by competent officials. We also all want to ensure that these officials can freely investigate other branches of the government – including the presidential administration – without fear of retribution. How can we tell whether Donald Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey was meant to ensure competent leadership of the FBI, as Trump claims, or to prevent Comey from digging deeper into Trump’s potential…
