Key Takeaways From Robert Mueller’s Testimony To House Intel And Judiciary Committees

video still of Robert Mueller in testimony before the House Intelligence Committee on July 24, 2019

by Richard Cameron   Some high level observations about Robert Mueller’s appearance today before the House Judiciary Committee and the House Intelligence Committee: 1. It was obvious – and this was predicted, that the GOP House members on both committees did not wish to discuss the actual findings of Robert Mueller’s report because they are very damning to the president, but instead attempted to use the hearings to message to Trump’s voters about their conspiracy theories about the origins of the FBI investigation itself. Not surprising that Mueller refused to…

California Dems Mobilize Against Hysterical Move To Whitewash “Life Of Washington” Mural

photo of Victor Arnautoff's "Life of Washington" mural, subject to removal or censure by the San Francisco Board of Education

by Richard Cameron     Americans in Red states commonly imagine that Democrats in solid Blue states like California are all monolithic ally situated on the political margins – as in that they are in lockstep with each other.  A recent decision by the San Francisco Board of Education put the lie to that notion. The board voted unanimously in early July to paint over a mural commissioned during FDR’s administration, depicting first president George Washington. The mural, illustrated the artist’s conception of Washington as the prime mover and catalyst…

Trumpism is Another Step in the Evolution of Conservatism, a Misstep

by Tony Wyman They are foreigners! That’s what they are!  And we want them out by the millions!  And Trump supporters are willing to go to civil war if that’s what it takes to get it done!  – Pro-Trump caller on the Republican line on POTUS Radio, 21 July 2019 Let’s be clear about what is happening to the Republican Party, shall we? The mainstream establishment wing of the GOP that ran the party since its inception is dead.  And with its death goes the principles and values that made…

Farmers Face Bleak Future Due To Trade War, Weak Commodities And Labor Shortages

By Lynda Bryant Work   “Farming is a profession of hope.” Brian Brett   Farmers live on hope from year to year, but it doesn’t pay the bills. And money is getting scarce. Despite claims from the White House that the economy is doing great, many Farm Belt states would disagree. The U.S. farm economy is challenged this year like at no other time in recent history, due to trade concerns, depressed commodity prices and a lack of immigrant labor. Farm Belt states are great for business. Iowa, Illinois and Indiana,…

Megan Rapinoe Knows What It Really Means to Be Patriotic

by Tony Wyman If any male footballer had struck the same pose as Megan Rapinoe struck after scoring the winning goal that earned the United States Women’s National Soccer Team their second consecutive World Cup title, the sporting world would barely have taken note. After all, such displays of brashness and boldness are common among male athletes.  Players in men’s leagues used to rip their shirts off in celebration, but now that practice is banned, they make self-aggrandizing jaunts to the corner flags every time the ball touches the back…

Trump Witch Hunt Against FBI – More Than A Nothingburger, A Pending Disaster

meme of nothingburger titled "Counter Investigation Nothingburger" with stylized GOP Elephant Logo with Trump toupee

by Richard Cameron   Republican members of Congress, the Trump Administration and Trump’s new hatchet man in the Justice Department, William Barr, are all soon going to meet their Waterloo. A meeting which took place last month while Trump was in London, for his visit with the Queen, is predictive of the anti-climactic outcome of the GOP’s politically motivated, staged revenge investigation against the FBI.  Unidentified sources within the Justice Department, revealed to Reuters that a team of lawyers from the DOJ, assigned to the Office of the Inspector…

The Russian People Saved Ivan Goluov. Now, Can They Save Russia?

by Kseniya Kirillova The victory of Russia’s civil society in the case of Ivan Golunov* has raised two very important points. Firstly, we have seen that, if provoked, Russians are able to stand up for persons who have fallen into disfavour with police authorities. Secondly, Russian civil society seldom rises to the occasion, especially on such a large scale. (*Ivan Golunov, who works for the independent Russian website Meduza and is known for exposing local corruption, was recently arrested in Moscow on trumped up charges of drug dealing. He was reportedly…

Jesus Would Be Facing A Prison Sentence In Federal Court On Migrant Smuggling Charges

image of Jesus Christ as portrayed in the CNN documentary series, "Finding Jesus"

by Richard Cameron   I, as a general matter of policy as Editor in Chief, tend to strenuously avoid articles that delve into religious issues. We have a sister publication, National Candle, whose wheelhouse is just that. However, rules are made to be broken. Had Jesus been incarnated in the flesh in the American Southwest and brought light, hope and salvation to residents and immigrants alike, in the border zones of the Sonora Desert between the United States and Mexico, He would have found himself under the close scrutiny of…

Trump’s Royal Embarrassment Of Himself And America In Great Britain

photo of thousands in London protesting the visit to Great Britain of U.S. President Donald Trump

by Richard Cameron   Once again, as regularly as the sun rising in the East, Donald Trump succeeds in making America look profoundly foolish on the international stage – this time in a command performance in England, at the invitation of Her Majesty, Queen of England. Trump managed, in this trip, to: Insult a member of the Royal Family, the Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, calling her “nasty”. Launch into a contemptuous slag of the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan – terming him a “stone cold loser”.…
