Impeachment Inquiry features faulty GOP counter narratives   Everyone that is paying attention, is following the open hearings at the Capitol, where committee witnesses are being interviewed by Democrats and Republicans. As such, we won’t get too far into that, other than sharing just a few observations. The main argument GOP House members seem to be advancing – and this will be consistent going forward, is that the testimony of Ambassador Taylor and  Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, George Kent, is “hearsay” and that as such,…

Writer’s Lounge: Fiona Hill, Rudy Giuliani, Gordon Sondland, Donald Trump, ERA

If Jim Jordan is leading the team, you might want to bet against that team.   In perusing the transcript of the Fiona Hill deposition before the joint House Impeachment Inquiry committee, presided over by Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA), I happened across this gem, which gives us a bit of a preview how ineffective House Oversight Committee member Jim Jordan (R-OH) is going to prove to be when he is moved over to the House Intelligence Committee as replacement for Devin Nunes (R-CA), who has become a self caricature. …

How Discredited Policies Of The Days Of DEVO Have Driven Us To The Fiscal Edge

photo 80's era new wave band of "Whip It" fame, DEVO

The eighties had some bright spots. These include the lyrical riffs in Guns and Roses marvelous Sweet Child o’ Mine, the bass line in Billy Idol’s catchy White Wedding and just about everything Great White and Metallica did. There were also some highs in  GOP’s economic experiment, but largely it was a mixed bushel of apples, most of them rotten or full of worm-holes and bruises. That didn’t stop the GOP from using them in a pie that we are still choking down to this day.
