I’m sure most people have either asked or heard the question ‘Where is God’?, especially in the midst of tragedy. God is not a ‘genie in a bottle’ to go to for granting wishes. God says to come to him in prayer. It’s as simple as talking to him as we would talk to a friend. The good news is he is available to us at all times to strengthen us. His answer could be yes, no or wait. I’m sure we can all agree waiting is the hardest. God’s timing is not always our timing, but through prayer we have hope.
Where is God?
The sad fact is that America has rejected God. He was kicked out of politics. Adults selectively forget government was Biblically founded. Their usual argument is to cite ‘separation of church and state’. Separation of church and state has been misinterpreted. It couldn’t be further from the wishes of our religious Founding Fathers. They wanted our churches to be active in politics. At the same time they wanted government to stay out of churches to prevent the establishment of a state religion.
God has been kicked out of our schools. Our Founding Fathers wanted students to learn Biblical principles. Early education taught Scripture and the Ten Commandments as part of the curriculum. Today there is a crisis of Bible illiteracy. Those entering college are ill equipped, because their lack of Biblical knowledge. Liberal professors either tear students’ beliefs apart or keep them from learning about Christianity. Shaming Christians seems to be a favorite pastime.
Another illustration of religious intolerance was when the Pledge of Allegiance was banned from most of our public schools. At one time is was commonplace for students to start out their day reciting the pledge. Now it is not allowed, because it supposedly is offensive to some students, who don’t even have the freedom to discover why. It is important for parents who are citizens in America to understand their rights.
There is an all-out assault on America’s religious institutions where morality is being pushed to its limits. Immorality and political correctness are invading our land like a cancer. Some churches have surrendered by embracing immorality out of fear of losing their tax exempt status.
Government and government indoctrinated schools intentionally ignore America’s Judeo-Christian foundations even though faith and Scripture can be found throughout buildings and courthouses. History is being re-written, and it begs the question, “Where is God“?
To strengthen religious protections our Founding Fathers created the Constitution’s First Amendment:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
America has experienced negative consequences since removing the Bible and prayer from schools. Our youth have not been taught about God, morality, right or wrong. Few value life or our aging population. Many children are born out of wedlock. Crime and delinquency are all too common for those under 18 years of age. Not petty crimes, but violent crimes, including murder, rape, drug offenses, assault, gangs, burglary, theft and vandalism.
When it comes down to it, political correctness and the rejection of God has made a mess of America. Bring God back and America will begin to heal.
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14
